Outline:

  1. The False Teaching that Can Feel So Captivating.

  4. The Fullness of Christ’s Infinite Blessings!

The False Teaching that Can Feel So Captivating.

  • v.8a -- See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit

The False Teaching that is Just So Empty

  • v.8 -- See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

  • Neh 8:5-6 -- And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people, for he was above all the people, and as he opened it all the people stood …And they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.

  • v.8 -- See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

The Fullness of Christ’s Infinite Greatness!

  • v.9 --  For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily,

The Fullness of Christ’s Infinite Blessings!

  • v.10 -- 10 and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

  • Eph 1:4-5a -- even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us…

  • Eph 5:31-32 -- 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.
